Inga 1 and Inga 2 dams

Inga 1 (351 MW) and Inga 2 (1,424 MW) were commissioned in 1972 and 1982, respectively, as part of a failed industrial development scheme implemented under then-Zaïre's former dictator, Sese Sekko Mobutu. The two dams currently operate at only 40% capacity because they have never received maintenance.
